CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS
The Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM) invites members and non-members to submit abstracts for poster display and publication in conjunction with the 2012 SABM Annual Conference to be held September 20-22, 2012, at Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Abstracts submitted by the May 11, 2012 deadline will be evaluated. Approved posters will be notified via email shortly thereafter. A Poster Reception will follow.ORAL PRESENTATION:
Six (6) will be selected for a 5-8 minute oral presentation Friday afternoon, September 21. Awards for the oral presentations are:

Notification for those abstracts selected for oral presentation will be sent by August 1, 2012.
SUBMISSION:
Abstracts must be submitted online here.
FORMAT:
Abstracts must be submitted either as one paragraph or in four sections that include (1) Introduction, (2) Patients (or Materials) and Methods, (3) Results, and (4) Conclusion. Any tables should be simple and can be uploaded separately. It is strongly recommended that figures should not be supplied. If figures are necessary, they should be of high quality ready for print reproduction, and lettering/symbols/lines should be clear and distinct for publication. All figures should be Black and White only, and if they are not vector (eps) format be at least 300 dpi.

- Blood Management, Anemia Management , Blood Conservation: education, cost/benefit analysis; outcome data
- Transfusion, Blood Utilization and Blood Safety
Scientific:
- Pharmaceutical Advances
- Surgical Technology , Techniques and Blood Salvage
GUIDELINES
: The following guidelines address key factors that the SABM Abstract Review Committee considers when reviewing abstracts:- The abstract must adequately describe the objectives and results of the study so that the quality of work can be evaluated by the Abstract Committee.
- The title of the abstract should be fully informative of the contents and should consist of:
- introduction that presents the purpose of the study
- brief description of the procedures employed
- summary of the results
- a statement of the conclusions.
- The financial sponsor(s) of the study should be listed at the end of all abstracts. All authors must indicate whether or not they have a personal financial interest in the study sponsor(s) and, if so, the nature of the interest.
- Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged via e-mail to authors upon successful submission.
- Maximum poster size will be 4 ft wide x 4 ft high; handouts are welcome.
- All abstract presenters will be required to register for the meeting and pay all registration and travel costs.
